Hypertension Diagnostics’ CVProfilor® to be Featured on the Ruth Koscielak Show during the Minnesota State Fair

ST. PAUL, MN August 15, 2002 – Hypertension Diagnostics, Inc. (“HDI”) (Nasdaq SmallCap: HDII), today announced that it plans to demonstrate the CVProfilor® DO-2020 Cardiovascular Profiling System at the Minnesota State Fair, during the Ruth Koscielak Show, on Wednesday, August 28th at 3:00 PM Central Daylight Time. The Company will also be featured on radio advertising to announce this event beginning Friday, August 16th and running through Friday, August 30th.

Ruth Koscielak is a female broadcasting pioneer and one of the most well known radio personalities in the Upper Midwest. She has been hosting a midday talk show for more than 20 years and currently airs afternoons on Monday through Friday on Minnesota affiliates WEZU AM 1220 of Stillwater, KDAL AM 610 of Duluth, KDWA AM 1460 of Hastings and KRWC AM 1360 of Wright County.

“With the stories in the news of heart attacks, strokes and diabetes in younger and younger people, it makes sense to find out your risk for cardiovascular disease before it’s too late,” said Ruth Koscielak. “We are looking forward to having Dr. Stephen L. Zuckerman, head of internal medicine at Aspen Medical Group’s East Lake Street Clinic in Minneapolis, join us at the fair to talk to our listeners further about the importance of early detection of cardiovascular disease and how the CVProfilor® System helps meet this goal,” added Koscielak.

“Since more women die from cardiovascular disease each year than men and since the majority of Ruth’s listeners are women, this presents an excellent opportunity to provide further education on cardiovascular risk factors and the importance of early detection,” said Dr. Zuckerman. “The CVProfilor® System has proven to be a valuable tool in my daily clinical practice. I use it nearly every day on patients who are at risk for cardiovascular disease since these patients cannot be adequately assessed with just blood pressure measurements. The CVProfilor® System provides information on my patients’ arterial health that I cannot obtain by any other means and I believe that in the next few years, the measurement of arterial elasticity will become as common as a blood pressure reading. It’s that clinically important,” added Dr. Zuckerman.

Hypertension Diagnostics, Inc. designs, develops, manufactures and markets proprietary cardiovascular profiling systems for medical applications and clinical research. These systems are marketed to physicians, other health care professionals and researchers by a direct sales force and via distributors throughout the world. In addition to providing blood pressure values, the systems non-invasively detect subtle changes in the compliance or elasticity of both large and small arteries which is a unique feature of HDI’s technology.
